How We Got Started

OL was started in August, 2006.  Each officer  had started to miss something while playing. They missed having close friends to play with.   Demanding raiding schedules and interpersonal conflicts in other guilds made playing a chore. The officers longed for a return to the good times they had when they first started playing.

How Our Guild Works
We have no level caps, class caps or mandatory raiding schedules.  We currently do 10-man WotLK runs throughout the week. If raiding is not your thing we also enjoy running instances, questing, leveling, PvP or just hanging out with each other. We are a generally laid back guild that only encourages our members to have fun and balance their gaming with real life.  RL>WoW.   People > Loot.

What We Require of Our Members
We absolutely require our members to be respectful and courteous to all members and players. There cannot be any offensive language in general chat, guild chat, raid chat, voice chat or in tells to other members or players. Your in game behavior reflects on the reputation of the guild, so it is imperative that, as a member, our philosophy shines through you. This applies to our members even when they are the only guild member around.

What the heck does your guild's name mean?
It is latin. The first word means "noble". The second word means "light".

Where Do I Sign Up?
Please fill out our application and an officer or veteran will contact you in game. Look for Hariel, Seastorm, Lyxon, or Kaill online if you have any questions.

Do you have a voice chat server?
We do! We have purchased a Ventrilo server for our guild members and friends to use.

Do you have a DKP/AP system for raiding?
No. We use the Need/Greed rolling system built into the game with rolls going to suitable class and main spec.

Do you have scheduled raiding times?
We currently do 10-man WotLK runs throughout the week.  We also enjoy visiting past raid encounters for fun and achievements.   Generally 6:00 to 6:30 ST on Friday or Saturday has worked for 10 and 25 man raids in the past, but that will change to suit  those who want to run.  We tend to not run late-nights during the week very often out of respect for work and school.  :)

Do you have a Guild Bank?
We currently have a guild bank with multiple tabs that our members can freely use.

We've also added an Artisan rank to give guild professionals access to their own tab in the guild bank for storing mats and to identify guild professionals to the rest of the guild.

How do I become a full member of the guild?
All new players start at recruit level.   Recruits have full rights to roll on loot in guild raids and are in most other ways equal to members, except that they will not have personal access to guild bank.   After playing as an active member for a month or so and registering for the forums, recruits will be considered for full membership.

How can I become a Veteran?
Members that are skilled players, that have come to be well respected by their fellow members and embody the values of Optimus Luminarium may be offered the rank of Veteran at the discretion of the Officers.

The rank of Veteran cannot be purchased or attained by endeavor. It is earned by character and issued when another Veteran is needed by the Officers. Though many in the guild may indeed be deserving, the Officers don't wish to dilute the rank's importance.

How can I become an officer?
The rank of Officer will be issued at the sole discretion of the Guild Leader.
